TAMPA, Fla. - Valtteri Filppula had two goals and an assist, goalie Ben Bishop won his 13th game this season and the Tampa Bay Lightning beat the Anaheim Ducks 5-1 in a matchup of conference leaders Thursday night.

Martin St. Louis added a goal and two assists for the Lightning, who played their first home game and second overall — both victories — without star Steven Stamkos. The centre, out indefinitely after breaking his right leg Monday, had surgery Tuesday in Boston and returned to Florida on Thursday.

Alex Killorn and Victor Hedman had the other Tampa Bay goals.

Emerson Etem scored for the Ducks, who lost 3-2 on Tuesday night to lowly Florida.

Anaheim captain Ryan Getzlaf missed his third game with an upper-body injury, but coach Bruce Boudreau said the centre could return Friday at Carolina or Monday against Pittsburgh.

BLACKHAWKS 5, COYOTES 4, SO

CHICAGO (AP) — Jonathan Toews and rookie Brandon Pirri scored in a four-round shootout to help Chicago beat Phoenix for its fourth straight win.

Radim Vrbata had the lone shootout goal for Phoenix, 7-1-1 in its last nine games.

Pirri tied the score 4-all 3 minutes into the third when he connected on a midair deflection of Brent Seabrook's drive from the top of the circle.

Brandon Saad, Patrick Sharp and Marian Hossa also scored in regulation for the Blackhawks, who extended their point streak to eight games (7-0-1). Chicago fired a season-high 52 shots through overtime at Coyotes goalie Mike Smith.

Phoenix defenceman Michael Stone scored twice for the first time in his career as the Coyotes overcame an early two-goal deficit to earn a point.

Shane Doan and Lauri Korpikoski also scored for Phoenix. At 13-4-3, the Coyotes are off to their best start since 1998-99 when they were 15-3-2 after 20 games.

BLUES 7, AVALANCHE 3

ST. LOUIS (AP) — Alexander Steen scored his league-leading 15th and 16th goals, and St. Louis' slumping power play woke up with three goals against Colorado.

St. Louis has won seven of nine and is off to the fastest start in franchise history with 12 wins in its first 17 games. Colorado lost back-to-back games for the first time this season.

Derek Roy, David Backes, Vladimir Tarasenko, Chris Stewart and Jay Bouwmeester also scored for the Blues, who have won their last five home meetings with the Avalanche. T.J. Oshie added four assists for the first four-point game of his career.

Steen has a point in 12 successive games, a career high. St. Louis goalie Jaroslav Halak improved to 10-2-2.

Nathan MacKinnon, Matt Duchene and Ryan O'Reilly scored for Colorado.

Avalanche goalie Jean-Sebastien Giguere lost for the first time this season after winning his first five starts. He was pulled in the second period after allowing three goals on 14 shots, but re-entered at the start of the third.

BRUINS 3, BLUE JACKETS 2, OT

BOSTON (AP) — Milan Lucic scored on a breakaway 4:11 into overtime to lift Boston over Columbus.

Lucic blocked Cam Atkinson's shot just inside the blue line and the puck took a big bounce toward the Columbus end with nobody between Lucic and Blue Jackets goalie Sergei Bobvrosky. Lucic corralled the puck and poked a shot between Bobvrosky's pads.

Loui Eriksson and Shawn Thornton also scored for the Bruins. Chad Johnson stopped 32 shots while playing for just the third time this season with starter Tuukka Rask getting a night off.

Bobvrosky made 28 saves for the Blue Jackets, who got goals from Blake Comeau and Nick Foligno.

KINGS 3, ISLANDERS 2

UNIONDALE, N.Y. (AP) — Tyler Toffoli deflected in the winning goal with 1:27 left and Los Angeles stunned New York by scoring three times in the third period.

Toffoli, who has a five-game point streak, tipped in Jake Muzzin's drive past surprised goalie Kevin Poulin to cap the comeback. Tanner Pearson tied it 2-all with 7:45 left with a power-play goal in his first NHL regular-season game. Slava Voynov started the turnaround for the Kings at 5:34 of the third.

That made a winner of backup Ben Scrivens, who had 23 saves in place of injured Jonathan Quick.

Aaron Ness gave the Islanders a 2-0 lead in the second period with his first NHL goal after Casey Cizikas put New York in front with his first of the season.
