Disciplined Calgary Flames apologize for disappointing fans, teammates

CALGARY - Three Calgary Flames benched for disciplinary reasons have apologized to their teammates, fans and the organization.

Johnny Gaudreau and Sean Monahan, who are the top two scorers on the team, and rugged winger Lance Bouma were scratched from Tuesday's game against the Toronto Maple Leafs for being late to practice the previous day.

Calgary won the game 4-3 without the three men line lineup.

Gaudreau says they are upset with themselves and they've learned from their mistake.

Flames head coach Bob Hartley says he's moved on and told the media not to turn the incident into a "tsunami in a fishbowl."

The team has back-to-back road games starting Thursday against divisional rivals San Jose and Arizona.
