Marc-Andre Fleury recorded his 40th career shutout and the Pittsburgh Penguins beat the Toronto Maple Leafs 4-0 Saturday night for their fourth straight win in Phil Kessel's return to the Air Canada Centre. Toronto kept Kessel, Sidney Crosby and Evgeni Malkin off the scoresheet, but the Penguins stars had plenty of help in adding to the Leafs' early misery this season. Chris Kunitz, Eric Fehr, Matt Cullen and Patric Hornqvist scored before a Halloween crowd of 19,197 that included Gumbie, Super Mario and Superman. More...

Goaltender Fleury steadying force for erratic Penguins (Yahoo Sports)
April 15, 2015 (00:45) [ Indexed from Yahoo! Sports ]
Marc-Andre Fleury tucked his hair behind his right ear and spent the next five minutes deflecting away praise much in the same way the Pittsburgh Penguins goaltender effortlessly turned aside 1,685 shots during a season unlike any of his 11-year career. ''I don't like to make things too complicated.'' That's all in the past for a player who has spent years toiling sometimes thanklessly in the shadows while superstar teammates Sidney Crosby and Evgeni Malkin command the spotlight. Pittsburgh didn't clinch a ninth straight playoff berth until the final day of the regular season, a fitting 2-0 win over Buffalo in which Fleury staved off a miserable collapse by stopping 28 shots. He's also Pittsburgh's biggest asset as it tries to upset the New York Rangers in the opening round of the Eastern Conference playoffs. More...

The Pittsburgh Penguins entered the weekend ragged and reeling. Two games, nine goals - including a couple by the snakebit power play - and another steady performance by Marc-Andre Fleury provided a reminder: when focused and fed-up, the Penguins remain as potent as ever. Fleury stopped 34 shots, Patric Hornqvist and Evgeni Malkin collected three points apiece and the Penguins beat the Florida Panthers 5-1 on Sunday night. Paul Martin added his third goal of the season for Pittsburgh, which won for the second time in less than 24 hours to keep pace in the crowded Metropolitan Division and regain some confidence after a three-game losing streak.
