Flames acquire Hunter Shinkaruk from Canucks for Markus Granlund

The Calgary Flames acquired forward Hunter Shinkaruk from the Vancouver Canucks for center Markus Granlund on Monday.

The Flames said Shinkaruk, a Calgary native, will be assigned to their AHL affiliate, the Stockton Heat.

Shinkaruk was the 24th overall pick in the 2013 NHL Draft. He has 39 points (21 goals, 18 assists) in 45 games with the Utica Comets of the AHL this season. Shinkaruk, 21, made his NHL debut in November against Montreal.

Granlund, 22, had seven points (four goals, three assists) in 31 games with the Flames this season. Granlund, a second-round pick by Calgary in the 2011 NHL Draft, has appeared in 86 career NHL games.
