Nicklas Lidstrom out vs. Jackets

NHL, Detroit Red Wings, Columbus Blue Jackets, Colorado Avalanche

DETROIT -- The Detroit Red Wings have ruled defenseman Nicklas Lidstrom out for their Tuesday night game against the Columbus Blue Jackets.

Lidstrom is day to day after injuring one of his ankles Saturday night against the Colorado Avalanche.

Detroit recalled defenseman Doug Janik from the AHL's Grand Rapids Griffins. Janik has more than 180 games of NHL experience.

Lidstrom, 41, has played in 1,556 games, the most by an NHL player who spent his entire career with one team. The four-time Stanley Cup champion was voted the league's top defenseman last year for the seventh time.

Lidstrom has 31 points and a plus-25 this season. The Swede might have a shot to match Bobby Orr's record of eight Norris Trophies won consecutively from 1968 to 1975.
